Tasty Tuesday: Double Beef & Cabbage Stew
Now that it feels like fall again I had to break out some of my ideas for cold weather recipes! This is another slow cooker one that everybody is sure to love (although I am sure it would come out fine on the stove top or in the oven too). It’s hearty with two kinds of beef, lots of cabbage, some potatoes & a deep robust flavor. You really are going to want to try this one!
Double Beef & Cabbage Stew

Serves 6-8 people
1 medium to large head of cabbage
1 medium onion
3 medium large red potatoes
1 can beef gravy
1/4 can beef or chicken broth
1 tiny can of V8 juice or tomato juice equivalent
1 lb ground beef
1 pkg kielbasa beef
1 pkg spicy taco seasoning
3 tbsps minced or grated garlic
1/4 cup evaporated milk or 2% milk
3 tbsps dijon or whole grain mustard
1-2 dashes salt
1-2 dashes pepper
1. Brown ground beef with 2 tbsps of garlic & spicy taco seasoning mix. Drain.
2. Rough slice the cabbage, onion, apples & potatoes.
3. Mix gravy, broth, mustard, v8 juice, 1 tbsp of garlic, evaporated milk, salt & pepper until combined. Pour this sauce over the cabbage mixture.
5. Slice the kielbasa. Place both the ground beef and kielbasa in the crock pot on top of the cabbage mixture & the sauce mixture. Cook on high 4-6 hours or low for 6-8 hours.
Serve with warm bread for dunking in the yummy sauce!
Substitute the apples with 2 tomatoes cut into large chunks or omit the apples completely.
Use a light version of kielbasa turkey & ground turkey to lighten the dish up some.
